Converting Alternatives International (CAI) was commissioned to complete a full refurbishment and modernization of a Zerand 700 Series die cutter and stripper. This comprehensive project restored the system to like-new condition while elevating its performance through advanced automation, motion upgrades, and custom-engineered components.
As part of the refurbishment, CAI installed new servo motors on the feed roll, metering roll, cutter, kicker, and stripper axes—greatly enhancing precision, responsiveness, and overall process control. In addition, our engineering team designed and built a custom askew section featuring an articulating-arm HMI and automated setup functionality tailored to individual product requirements. A fully custom delivery table was also fabricated and seamlessly integrated into the line.
Beyond mechanical enhancements, CAI assumed full responsibility for the installation and integration of all supporting equipment, including a Martin Automatic MTB unwind, splicer, and festoon system. To unify the entire production line, we took over full control architecture and consolidated all equipment into a single, cohesive operating system. This included integrating CAI’s precision registration control, ensuring consistent alignment, improved accuracy, and optimized performance across every stage of operation.
This project highlights CAI’s capability to transform legacy machinery into a modern, efficient, and highly automated press system through expert refurbishment, custom engineering, and advanced control integration.
